As a descendant of the legendary Rebetiko songwriter Yiannis Papaioannou, Dimitris Mann (born Dimitris Mantzavidis) grew up surrounded by his ancestor’s music and it marked the beginning of his deep connection to Rebetiko.

In 2013, he created the Greek Rebetiko Trio, a band devoted to sharing authentic Greek folk music with diverse audiences across the US.

With the GRT, Dimitris has performed over 250 shows in the US, including some of the country’s most prestigious folk festivals (Montana Folk Festival, Lowell Folk Festival).

He has given interviews and live performances on Montana Public Radio, New York Kosmos Radio, Los Angeles Greek Radio, and Boston Radio Grecian Echoes.

As a clinician and lecturer, Dimitris has presented on Rebetiko music at institutions including Berklee College of Music, UCLA, Pepperdine and Clark University, guiding audiences through the soulful nuances of a genre often called the "Greek blues".
